Santa Monica is its own coastal city in western Los Angeles County. It borders the Santa Monica Bay (Pacific Ocean) on the west, Pacific Palisades on the north and Venice on the south. With the exception of the Pacific Ocean, the city of Santa Monica is completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles. The Santa Monica Pier, and the 3rd Street Promenade are popular tourist and shopping areas. Santa Monica also boasts a beautiful park that follows the coastline and looks down on the Pacific Ocean. Santa Monica offers a variety of residential options from small beachside condos to large beach front estates. Santa Monica is also home to beautiful, upscale neighborhoods that feature well maintained and or remodeled smaller homes, to large estates set back from the manicured tree lined streets.
